Day 2 – Clinical rotation at Hospital Ramon Garibay.
Yes, I did well on my grammar test today!! I think I did fine on the medical Spanish as well, but it has not been corrected. Will let all know when I know.
I still have not had a chance to download all the photos from this weekend’s theater experience, so that will just have to wait one more day. Sorry!!
I did take a few more pictures of the hospital. It’s hard sometimes because patients are walking around and I do not want to violate their privacy.

Today was a rather slow day at the hospital. We went to the morning meeting again and again watched medical interns get drilled about client cases. They have the same look towards the doctors as I do when anyone starts speaking to me fast in Spanish. You start to have a new found respect for certain situations. One of the doctors included us in the meeting by asking us what the medical interns could not answer. It was nice to be able to give the right answer. I still did not have any patients in the men’s ward (sala de hombres). We utilized our time wisely by practicing our questions with each other and we quizzed one another on the medical Spanish terminology that was going to be on the exam later that afternoon. Towards the end of the day, we were able to catch an assessment done first by the medical intern and then again by the doctor. The gentlemen’s chief complaint was inflammation of the stomach. Again it was nice to understand what was going on even though I did not know exactly what was being said.
Across the street from the hospital there is a beautiful church. The name slips my mind, so I will have to find out tomorrow and post it.

One thing that I always have to remember with nursing is – If unsure, it’s best to double check.
Favorite Spanish sentence of the day – Errar es de humanos, Sabios de corregie. This was a quote at today's meeting at the hospital – Error is of human, wise to correct.
