Day 3 – Clinical rotation at Hospital Ramon Garibay.

OMG!! It’s A Girl!! I saw my first C-section today at the hospital!! I got in my surgical scrubs, surgical booties, hair net and mask. It was an awesome day!! I love going into surgery. I got to see the anesthesiologist perform the regional spinal block. Of course my favorite part!! It was a beautiful little miracle!!
I was simply amazed at how the nurses, doctors and interns work as a family. The doctor gave the surgical nurse a cheek to cheek greeting and the best part is when he called her hefe, which means Boss. Nurses are really valued members of the surgical team.
This past weekend we had a chance to check out Mexican culture at its finest, The Ballet Folclorico and the Filarmonica de Jalisco at the Teatro Degollado. The two shows were absolutely breath taking. The ballet was a journey through different states and eras throughout Mexico. The ballet took us through Romeria, Fandango, Nayarit, Yucatan, Danzon, and Jalisco. The radiant colors of the dresses were so mesmerizing that you could barely take your eyes away from the stage. The cultural traditions ran deep throughout the folkloric presentation. The pictures tell a lot about the traditional dress throughout Mexican History.

The opera was so awesome!! I have always wanted to go to an opera. It ended up being a triple treat because I not only got to see two very talented opera singers, Carla Dirlikov, a mezzosoprano and Megan Rose Williams, a soprano, there was also a complete symphony orchestra including a full choir and an extremely brilliant women conductor by the name of Alondra de la Parra. She was electrifying in her execution. I was only allowed to take one photo because they were not permitted one the concert began.

One thing that I always have to remember with nursing is – You always have to make the best out of every situation.
Favorite Spanish sentence of the day – Yo quiero cuatro pajas, dos tapas y dos bbq salsas por favor….gracias? Yes I can get what I want at Burger King. I want 4 straws, 2 lids and 2 bbq sauces, please. Thank you.
